Can I backtest Predefined Screens?
To use Zacks Predefined Screens, click the “Predefined” tab along the top of the page. This will open to the Predefined homepage and from here you will choose from the Basic, Premium or Profit Track Predefined Screens. From here you will have a list of screens from which to choose from. A brief description of each will be given to the right if you have questions regarding a particular Predefined Screen from any of these three folders.
Once you have selected which screen you would like to view, simply click on the name (it will then be highlighted in blue) and select “Run Screen”.
You now have access to one of Zacks Predefined Screens.
If you would like to make your own changes to one of these screens for your personal use, simply click on “Edit Criteria” to change the parameters for the screen and/or click “Edit View” if there are different criteria items you would like to view about the selected companies.
Basic Predefined Screens: These screens are free screens available to anyone who visits Zacks.com.
Premium Predefined Screens: To access these screens, a user must either have a Zacks Premium, Zacks Elite, Research Wizard or Trading Service subscription. Zacks analysts have created these screens based upon their knowledge of screening to provide an advantage to our users a number of screens to user for their stock picking.
Profit Tracks: These nine screening strategies, like the Premium Predefined Screens, are made available to Zacks Premium, Zacks Elite, Research Wizard or Trading Service subscribers. We also make three of these tested strategies accessible to anyone at Zacks.com on a rotational basis. (These three strategies are identified by not having the (place the P image here) Premium symbol after it.) Only Zacks subscribers can gain access to all of them all the time.
You cannot backtest the Predefined Screens with the online customer screener.
But you can backtest the Predefined Screens, the Profit Tracks and your own custom created screens with the Research Wizard stock picking and backtesting software. With the Research Wizard you can backtest your screens and trading strategies over the last seven years. See how your screens would have done in both bullish and bearish markets, including the bear market from 2000 thru 2002. And of course, see how profitable your screen is now and how successful it is at picking winning stocks today.
Only thru backtesting can you know what works and what doesn’t BEFORE you put your money at risk. Stop guessing and start backtesting today.
